About Kamayani

The Kamayani Organization, founded in Ara (Bihar) by Prof. Shyam Mohan Asthana, has consistently been in the news for its social and cultural activities. Hundreds of plays were staged, poetry symposia, and literary discussions continued uninterrupted. It remained active from its inception in 1975 until 1994.

On 14-Jan-2007, a branch of the Kamayani Organization was opened in Varanasi. Its founding members included Prof. Shyam Mohan Asthana, Dr. Veerbala Verma, theatre guru Neel Kamal Chatterjee, Shri Priya Gopal Bhattacharya, and children's literature author Dr. Shri Prasad. Renowned rank-and-file workers Partha Banerjee, Ashok Seth, Nishant Saxena, Alok Sinha, Priyanka Sinha, Renu Sinha, Dr. Deepak Kumar, Veena Sahay, Amitabh Krishna Ghadekar, Ritwik Sanyal, Shravanati Mukherjee, and Indradev Chaudhary. In the year of our founding, we received a wonderful invitation to participate in a week-long theatre festival organized by Gokul Arts Institute.
